Skiers love it in winter, but in summer Austria gives you mountain pine air you could bottle and sell, glacier fresh beer, scented meadows, crystal lakes and waterfalls, a history of music and mad kings, houses painted with optical illusions, and sheer, sky-scraping peaks that'll have you fumbling every moment for your camera or sketchbook.
LECH
Lech is a pretty mountain resort in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg on the banks of the river Lech. There are around 200 miles of hiking and cycling trails ranging from charming to challenging, or there's river kayalking and Segway riding, while adrenaline junkies might appreciate the paragliding, canyoninig or whitewater rafting.
You stay seven nights at the 4 star Hotel Theodul, Lech am Arlberg, a mountain resort in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg on the banks of the river Lech. There are two included full-day excursions, to Lindau and Lake Bodensee, and to Linderhof Palace and Oberammergau. All in all, a great break in some of Europe's most serene and spectacular country, and a terrific change from traffic in the city or towels on a crowded beach.
ST ANTON
St. Anton is a village and ski resort in the Austrian state of Tyrol, located some 1304 metres above sea level and is one of the world's most sought after ski destinations, this has resulted in the establishment of excellent quality hotels and a wide range of shops, bars and leisure facilities.
The mountains, which attract the skiers in the winter become a walker's paradise in the summer and provide a spectacular backdrop to this attractive and friendly village. As the snows mel and the pretty alpine flowers burst into life, the quieter and charming character of this lovely resort comes to life.
