Cala San Vincente is situated on the northern coast of Majorca, some 35 miles northeast of Palma and the airport and four miles northeast of Pollensa. The resort started off as a fishing village and has older houses, a church and several beach restaurants clustered around the main beach of Cala Barques, one side of which is used by fishermen for repairing nets and storing goods. Two other beaches, Cala Clara and Cala Molins have some small-scale development but the main resort is much less developed than other resorts on the island and would therefore suit mature couples and families with children, as it is a quiet resort that caters for those who enjoy coastal and rural scenery. Evening entertainment is usually hotel based.
There are some shops in the area but visitors tend to go to Pollensa where there is a greater variety and which also has a market on Sundays.
Cala San Vicente is one of Majorca's most scenic destinations. Far from the hustle and bustle of Palma's tourist hordes, this is a peaceful, wind swept part of the island where artists, writers, and musicians such as Robert Graves, Anais Nin, Fredrik Chopin and Georges Sand have come over the years to find solace and creative inspiration.
